Your rights as a new student
Kårhuset Lund, 2026-08-13
Norea Sjöberg , Head of Introduction 2026
In order to maintain good cohesion within Teknologkåren at LTH, there are several regulatory documents that describe how we should act towards one another. Here we have tried to summarise your rights as a new student. If someone has infringed upon your rights, or if you have other questions, you may contact one of the Phøs, the Equal Opportunities Representative, the Head of Introduction, or the President. Contact details can be found below.
Respect and Treatment
The organisation of Teknologkåren at LTH should be characterised by joy, community, openness, and acceptance. The introduction shall be inclusive. Our vision is that all students should be treated well and on equal terms. We have zero tolerance towards harassment, discrimination, and abusive treatment. Zero tolerance does not mean that incidents never occur, but that if they do, we are obliged to address them, work preventively, and support the person affected. Participation in the introduction should also always be entirely voluntary.
Alcohol and Drugs
Teknologkåren at LTH shall promote a healthy approach to alcohol. Choosing non-alcoholic alternatives should always be a natural option, and no one should feel pressured or forced to consume alcohol to fit in at events arranged by Teknologkåren (and thereby also the guilds). This means that you should not have to endure peer pressure or questioning comments if you choose to drink less or not at all. A “no” is always a no, and a “maybe” is also a no. During the introduction, there are both alcohol-free activities and activities where alcohol is served.
We also have zero tolerance towards drug use.
Position of Power
Mentors and other volunteers may hold a position of power in relation to new students. It is therefore important that all volunteers include the new students, do not treat them differently, and refrain from intimate relations with them. This applies both to language and to all kinds of actions.
You Decide Where the Line is Drawn
No one else can decide whether or not you have been subjected to harassment, abusive treatment, or discrimination. Only you can determine that. An event or situation is to be considered abusive if it is perceived as such.
If you feel disrespected or poorly treated by a volunteer during the introduction, the Øverphøs, in consultation with the Head of Introduction, may talk to the person, issue a warning, or suspend the person from participation during the introduction. If you do not wish to contact the Øverphøs, you may also reach out to any of the other people listed below. All of them can also answer questions about the process or our regulatory documents.
Want to Know More?
If you want to read more about your rights and obligations as a member of Teknologkåren at LTH, you will find our regulatory documents on the website. The documents we have briefly summarised here are the Union’s Statement of Values, the Union’s policy for social activities, equality, alcohol and drugs, as well as the joint policy with LTH called the Policy for Academic Reception and Introduction.
If you have questions regarding the obligations of introduction volunteers, you are welcome to contact the Øverphøs, the Head of Introduction, or the Equal Opportunities Representative.
